Is the graph on your growth chart not steep enough? It might be possible that you are doing everything right, but there is one thing that’s missing, a proper process.
Everybody wants to boost their sales, which is not a bad thing. Afterall, that’s what you are in business for- to make profit. But how do you do that?
There are millions of suggestions available online telling you what you’ve gotta do, to increase your sales. Content marketing, SEO optimized content, PPC ads, viral marketing- you name it. But the one thing that is most essential (and what most of us forget) is to have a well-defined structure, a process for applying those methods. All you need is an implementation strategy. Once you have a strategy in place, it becomes super easy to get the results you desire. A strategy is like the foundation of any project. Once it is in place, everything else built on top is strong and sound.
And the good news is that it’s not hard. Though ‘strategizing’ sounds so fancy, it’s actually only a matter of 5 simple steps:
- Start with a goal in the mind
Make a specific goal, complete with a number and more importantly a time-frame.
Your goal should sound something like ‘We are going to grow by __ % in the next quarter/ year/ month (whatever fits)’. Write this down on a board, post-it or pin-it up on a soft-board. You and your team should see it every day, it should be obvious, that will help u keep your eye on the goal and remind u of what you have set out to do. - Define checkpoints
While your goal is long-term and large, it’s a good idea to define smaller immediate goals by working your way down from the top. That way, there is clear instruction as to what comes next. Another advantage is that in a relatively short while, it becomes clear if your method is working like it should be. That way, if a method has to be modified, it can be done in the early stages itself. - Test… test… test…
There are so many ways of marketing out there- Viral marketing, content marketing, SEO, trade shows and so many more. Try n test which one works for you. Here are where checkpoints come handy. You can figure out easily and in a short while if a particular marketing method works for you. Try, modify and adapt. Find out a method that works for you. - Analyze
One thing that most of us fail to do is to analyze our successes. We always study our failures and learn from them but it is equally important to learn and study our wins in order to find out what worked as well as it did, so we can repeat it and continue to gain success. - Repeat
Repeat these steps from the beginning at the end of each cycle. Even if you don’t reach your goal, at the end of your cycle, analyze what didn’t work and start over, make new goals and try newer methods of reaching your target.
Once you have this practice firmly in place, it’s so easy to implement it. And the best part is that it works for you no matter what business you are in. you can even apply it to all your other processes.
So, pull up your socks and start ‘strategizing’ to make more money.
